The Cape Verde Archipelago

logo_boavista_2_edited.png

Discover the Cape Verde archipelago, a jewel that enchants travellers. Tiny islands scattered in the Atlantic Ocean, 500 km from the African coast, a 3½-hour flight from Brazil, Fortaleza, and 1,500 km from the Canary Islands.

Made up of ten volcanic islands, nine of which are inhabited, each with its own unique character, Cape Verde offers an irresistible mix of endless beaches, spectacular mountains and lively resorts. The identity of the islands is the product of African, European and Brazilian influences, which are reflected in the music, dance and exquisite Creole cuisine. With a year-round mild climate and a warm local welcome (morabeza, an untranslatable word that encapsulates Cape Verdean courtesy and hospitality), Cape Verde is the ideal destination for outdoor adventures, relaxation on the beach or simply for a rejuvenating total detox from everyday life.

Each island is a world of its own, awakening special emotions. Some of the islands remain virtually unreachable, while others deserve to be explored at your leisure over a few days. I Love Boavista offers one or two-week tours, on two or more islands, for those travellers who like to seek out the most authentic soul of each place.

SAL

The island of Sal welcomes visitors with its white, sandy beaches and crystal clear waters, ideal for relaxation and water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. Here you will find luxury resorts, trendy restaurants and vibrant nightlife. The most European and best-known tourist resort.

SÃO NICOLAU

When it was first discovered, it was rich in water and vegetation. Droughts have gradually turned it into an island of stark contrasts, with a wild, barren, mountainous landscape interspersed with verdant valleys and quaint villages. Authentic and inviting, it’s guaranteed to charm the visitor.

SANTIAGO

Santiago is the largest of the islands in the archipelago and also the most densely populated. Praia, the capital of Cape Verde, today a modern, cosmopolitan city, is the seat of government, where the parliament and all the ministries are located.

MAIO

Maio immediately conveys a feeling of tranquillity: 'noise' really doesn’t seem to be part of the island’s vocabulary. Surrounding the small villages are beautiful beaches of fine white sand, lapped by warm, crystal-clear waters all year round.
